Creating Widgets in LC10 or Create using LCB - has something changed?

Hi,

I decided finally to have a go at creating a widget in LC10 (and if that works I’ll try it in LCC at some point), I tried following the lessons online (lessons.livecode.com) which appear to be written for LC 8 and I just couldn’t get the code or process to work. I thought maybe it was me miskeying, so I downloaded the SpeechBubble.lcb file for the lesson, and followed the steps to open Extension Builder and test it. That failed with an error too.

So I’m now left wondering where to go next. I understand there are two paths or methods for building Widgets now. Script Widgets and LCB Widgets, and from what I can find, LCB widgets are more complicated to build, but give you better control.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to the correct documentation for LC10 (10.0.3) for both script and LCB widgets? I’ve found Creating a script widget | Building, Sharing and Installing Extensions | LiveCode Lessons and before I dive in, i just want someone to confirm it works (before I lose more hair trying it).

Thanks, Al.

Hi @J9V6 thanks for the post!

Everything should be working as expected. What is the error you’re receiving?

There’s documentation on LiveCode Builder found here if that is of any help: LiveCode Builder | LiveCode Documentation

I downloaded the speech bubble widget from the livecode lesson and opened it in LC 10.0.3 and it just blew me a raspberry. I’ll try uninstalling and reinstalling Livecode and see if that helps.
