Bugs and issues DP9 on MacOS

DP9 - still difficult to use the Create IDE (Desktop MacOS DP9). Here are a few issues that persist, even though they feel quite basic:

  • cmd-C and cmd-V to copy/paste don’t work. The only way I can copy/past stuff is to right-click, select copy then do the same for paste.

  • Selecting a colour also resets the formatting of a label. This one is really quite annoying. To change hte colour I’m presented with a dialog that shows the colour themes for the app. If I select any of these, it resets the style and size of the text of the label. Just in case this didn’t come through, this is seriously annoying

  • In the IDE, trying to change the text of a label or any control with a caption: Trying to select the text in the property inspector doesn’t select the existing text and unless first clicking into the field - I can’t just click and drag to select existing text

  • there is no shortcut to group objects - cmd-G does nothing. Have to right-click to do this.

  • given the length of the scrollable property inspector it can be really quite time-consuming to locate the property I’m looking for. Either start with all segments collapsed as it would be easier to navigate that way or add a search function

  • There is no mechanism to provide overarching code that spans multiple “layouts” (in reality stacks). Important since the IDE suggests that cards are not to be encouraged. Cards live a half-life in LCC - they still exist and can be manipulated in code, but the IDE pretends these don’t exist. Either return to the card/stack paradigm (naming them layouts and windows respectively for example) or introduce an “app” or “session” object that can hold generalisable code that can be applied to any “layout”.

I’m trying to use LCC but it’s much more of an effort than just firing up LC Classic. For all it’s antiquated appearance, LC Classic remains much more functional…

Hi Stam,

Thanks for this feedback. We’re at the stage where we really want to focus on the remaining aspects of IDE quality. Expect some rapid updates with these issues addressed. Please don’t hesitate to give us feedback on literally anything you find in the Create IDE that isn’t working smoothly. We squashed hundreds of things in dp-9 and now is the time to deal with the rest.

Kind regards,

Kevin
